Maliki rejects law seeking to limit his term

[18:01] 13/Feb/03

PNA-The Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki rejected setting a fixed term for his tenure in an interview with Al Arabiya on Saturday.

He said: “The law fixing my term as prime minister and head of parliament will not pass because it is against the constitution.”

“Legislating laws as per the constitution come from the prime minister or president, and none have approved of such law.”

The prime minister concurred that “the law will not pass in the federal court.”

The Iraqi parliament voted a week ago to pass a law that seeks to prevent Maliki from seeking a third term in office.

Previous campaigns to curb some of Maliki’s increasing powers included a futile attempt to unseat him on November 2012. Kurdish parties, Iraqiya bloc and even some rivals in Maliki’s own Shiite coalition failed to pass a vote of no-confidence.

Maliki also commented on the situation in and said no resolution can be reached in the conflict-ravaged country by using military force, and both President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and the opposition have failed to find a solution by using arms.

“Dialogue and reforms,” are the only solution for Syria, he emphasized.

He expressed his concern about certain terrorist groups in Syria, such as the U.S.-blacklisted al-Nusra Front.

Kurds are not part of Iraq: Maliki

Baghdad- A deputy from Sadr Movement revealed Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has told a delegation of the movement that the Kurds do not have the right to export oil from the Iraq as they are not part of the country.

The Sadr deputy Jawad al-Shahili said his movement has asked Maliki in a recent meeting to discuss tensions with Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani and the Sunni officials.

Maliki, in return, has told the movement that the protesters’ demands are not lawful and the demonstrators are propelled by Persian Gulf states.

Maliki follows contradictory policies towards the demonstrators, Shahili was quoted by Xendan website as saying.

He further added Maliki and his Dawa Party are doing all their best to resolve the tensions.

5/2/2013

Dr. Muhammad Eqbal MP from the Middle Coalition an affiliate of al- Iraqiya List criticized the government’s silence regarding the activities of some militia groups clarifying that the announcement of the formation of al- Mukhtar (the Chosen) Army to support the federal government in combating terrorism and corruption is very dangerous and confirms the existence of a strong alliance between the government and those militias.

On what bases the government approves the formation of armed forces outside the framework of the governmental army and security forces to revenge from its rivals under the pretext of combating corruption and terrorism, Eqbal said in a press statement today.

Mahmoud Othman: Kurds are with implementing demonstrators' demands.

BAGHDAD / NINA / The MP, of the Kurdistan Alliance, Mahmoud Othman confirmed that "The Kurdistan Alliance is with the implementation of the legitimate demands of the demonstrators and amend some laws to speed up implementing them without delay."

He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that, "a lot of demands of the demonstrators are constitutional and legitimate, and there are some laws should be reviewed in their application , specially the Justice and Accountability Law, which is supposed to be implemented by independent judges, not politicians belonging to parties. "

Othman added, " The three authorities must cooperate in order to speed up implementing the legitimate and constitutional demands of protesters, because the parliament alone could not implement them in light of disabled and boycott," noting that "disrupt the work of the parliament and boycotting its meetings do not serve any party and everyone should attend. "

He stressed that "we, in this time, need to attend because there are important laws awaiting approval especially the general budget," adding that "the vote on the budget may be today."

The House resumes its sessions on Tuesday to vote on the draft law of the federal budget of 2013. / End

And when saddam was removed by US he was still abroad unlike us we were fighting saddam while he was polishing shoes in syria. Again in 2003 or 4 cant remember he came back to Kurdistan then KRG gave him two cars and $100,000 cash sent him on his way and Kurds were the reason he was re elected but the fukwit attacks Kurdistan when he gets bit of power first thing.

Like their genicide against us will be forgiven lol KRG is now teaching Anfal and Halabja in our primary schools , Iraq will never like Kurdistan it's not about 17% budget bullshit we never got anything prior to 2003 they still killed us and did genocides against us, we are two different nations forced to be in one fake border that is what the issue is nothing more or less.
