Due to closed borders, Baghdad imports goods from Kurdistan via planes

Mewan Dolamari
BasNews, Erbil

Iraqi General Custom Service announced that as a result of the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) control of areas between Baghdad and Erbil, the Iraqi Custom Service has decided to use air transportation to transport Turkish goods from the South Kurdistan to Baghdad and southern provinces of Iraq.

“Our custom service has decided to not take taxes of the Turkish goods that were accumulated in the South Kurdistan due to the inability for them to reach Baghdad,” said the Head of Iraqi General Custom Service Wmaiz Khalid.

“The rate of trade exchange between Iraq and Turkey has decreased considerably due to the control of Mosul and parts of Salahaddin province by ISIS,” added Khalid.

In the last years, Iraq has had the strongest trade relations with Turkey, and it was one of the biggest trade partners for Turkey, but this relation has deteriorated due to the recent instability in Iraq.

The recent attacks and violence by ISIS Insurgents in KRG and controlling the cities and town of the area, has closed the border points between Iraqi government and South Kurdistan.

IS is EXACTLY like Iran they have lots in common except one is Sunni one is Shia..

IS executes those who disobey IRAN hangs them, both implement strict Islamic rules both are violent and both want to take control over territories. So its a good thing for Kurds in general that there is this IS, but they need to be reminded Kurdish lands is a NO GO zone but they can grab what ever other lands there is and finish each other off as they please...

IS will attack IRAN via Diyala mark my words for it that's why they invaded Sadyea and tried to retain Jalawla..

Iraq army general killed by shelling: Spokesman

PUBLISHED ON JUL 7, 2014 6:34 PM 18 133 0 0

BAGHDAD (AFP) - Shelling west of Baghdad killed the commander of the Iraqi army's 6th division on Monday, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's security spokesman said.

Major General Najm Abdullah Sudan "was killed by hostile shelling in Ibrahim bin Ali," Lieutenant General Qassem Atta told AFP by text message.

Ibrahim bin Ali lies in the Abu Ghraib area, just west of Baghdad, near where security forces have been locked in a months-long standoff with militants who have seized control of the city of Fallujah.

The government lost control of Fallujah and parts of nearby Ramadi in January, and Iraqi forces have struggled to retake both cities.

ISIS Kidnaps 40 Turkmens in Mosul

07.07.2014
BasNews, Erbil

The insurgents of Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) kidnapped 40 Turkmens in a village located in the southern of Mosul.
