Turkish soldier guns down three colleagues

(Reuters) - A Turkish soldier shot dead three of his colleagues on Tuesday, opening fire with an assault rifle at a military base in southeastern Turkey, security officials said.

The motive and identity of the soldier, who also wounded himself in the attack, was not immediately known. The incident took place in the Pervari district of Siirt province, a volatile area near the border with Iraq.

Similar incidents have taken place in Turkey over the past few years with officials and media citing the pressures of military life at a time of increased violence as the main cause.

Fighting between Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants and Turkish security forces increased last summer to levels not seen since the 1990s, resulting in heavy death tolls on both sides. Many civilians have also been killed.

Turkey operates a compulsory military service and with around 500,000 men under arms, it has the second-largest army in NATO. Most conscripts are called up for service at the age of 18 and have to serve for 15 months.

Turkey announced in December that its intelligence services had started direct talks with jailed PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, boosting hopes of bringing an end to a Kurdish insurgency that has raged for almost 30 years.

More than 40,000 people, mostly Kurds, have been killed since the PKK took up arms against the state.

(Reporting by Seyhmus Cakan; Writing by Jonathon Burch; Editing by Nick Tattersall and Angus MacSwan)
Russian Girenak Joseph, who visited Kirkuk in Kurdistan as a part of his tour throu the 1870 - 1873 AD, who published the results of his trip & his studies later in 1879, in the 4th volume in the Bulletin of the Caucasus department of the Royal Geographical Russian Society estimated Kirkuk's population as many as 12-50,000 people, & he emphasized that except 40 Christian families, the rest of the population were Kurds. As for The Turkmen & Arabs, they have not been already existed at the time.

There is no army in the world with the same level of suicide rate as turkey. THat's not strange when you look at the crimes they commit against our brothers and sisters in NK.

Whaat? 32.000 Turkish soldiers committed suicide just in 2011 . rofl

Wow, great find, didn't know that! But how sure are we that it was a suicide and not just got killed in battles in Kurdistan against our Peshmerga? 32000 is a very high number and I don’t think all of it contains suicides. And most of this so called 'suicides' are happening in Kurdistan, right?

Maybe dirty Mongoloid ALTAIC Turks count their deaths as suicide victims to cover up their loses against Peshmerga because not to demoralise the spirit of the mainstream Turks or just ashamed of their loses because otherwise everybody will know how WEAK disgusting Altaic Mongoloid turks are in reality.

I’ve got the feeling that we Kurds are killing these Altaic Turks like rabbits. And that the PKK numbers are correct! :waveflag:

EDIT

Ps. 2011, 2012 were very bad years for Turkish army. ;) 2013 will be the worst year of the whole Altaic Mongoloid race in history. :kflag:

Lol

FUCKING LIES

No suicides. Killed by the PKK.

That's how they cover the amount of casualties.
They see 5 were killed by PKK and they killed 27 PKK fighters.
But out of nothing, 325 Turkish soldiers committed suicide that same day xD

Lol, this is what I'm talking about. Their so called high rate of 'suicides' doesn't make any sense at all! 32000 suicides in 2011 and 20000 so called suicides in 2012 is just way too much and UNREALISTIC!

We slaughter them like rabbits. And now I do understand why they kill our children and women. Out of retaliation, because they can’t kill our warriors in Kurdistan!

At least 50000 (fifty thousand !!!!!) in 2 years. OMG We're destroying these animals.

Biji Kurdistan, the victory is near! :kflag:

I heard lots of horror stories of soldiers of Kurdish, Georgian or Armenian origin that got killed in the Turkish army. And later they say that it was suicide.
If I was in a Turkish army as a Kurd I would definitely gun down at least 10 high ranked Turkish officers and then got killed in a battle. Maybe many soldiers of Kurdish origin doing that, but we never hear their stories.

Turks are very careful when they write their news, I think 32000 is correct, but like some people here said, PKK have killed them, Turkey won't admit their soldiers are the worst...And PKK was extremely active in 2011 in Turkey and Iran...makes sense.

I think 32000 is realistic.
But they are not all killed by PKK.

I believe around 2800 Turkish soldiers were killed last year, against 300 PKK losses.
That was a statement from the PKK.
