The Oil & Gas Year KRI 2013 With oil reserves of 45 billion barrels, the South Kurdistan (KRG) is in an enviable position. It has begun independently exporting its oil, selling its first cargo on the international spot market in April 2013. The Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government in Baghdad are at odds as to whether this violates the i-racki Constitution, and the KRG’s production-sharing contracts are at the centre of the dispute. Encouraged by momentous finds by pioneering juniors, some of the world’s biggest and most powerful players have been setting up shop in the Region over the past two years. Since 2009, TOGY has been the leading authority on the world’s most exciting onshore hydrocarbons frontier. Produced in close co-operation with the Kurdistan Regional Government, The Oil & Gas Year South Kurdistan of i-rack 2013 is an indispensable resource on the region everyone is watching. http://www.theoilandgasyear.com/ |

Ashti Hawrami talks about 45 billion barrels of oil reserves in south Kurdistan (KRG) ERBIL-Hewlêr, south Kurdistan 'KRG',— Minister of Natural Resources in south Kurdistan (KRG), Ashti Hawrami said that the rights of the oil companies operating in the autonomous region exceeded $3.5 billion, while he confirmed the estimated oil reserves in southern Kurdistan to be more than 45 billion barrels. Hawrami said in an interview with” Hayat” newspaper “the negotiations with Baghdad will be in accordance with the law which determines the financial dues to south Kurdistan from federal revenues”. He said that the Kurdistan government informed Baghdad earlier this year that the investment companies demands for more than $3.5 billion and these are constitutional entitlements. He denied accusations of Baghdad to the self-rule south Kurdistan to export crude oil without coordination with Baghdad, adding that “exporting was under an agreement with Baghdad to export our production under the requirement of deducting 50% of the import outputs to pay dues of the oil companies and the other half goes to the state treasury but what happened was capturing all imports“. He rejected rumors of smuggling and said, “There is no smuggling of oil and we do not accept these accusations and what has been claimed is a legal entitlement and came because we prevented Baghdad from seizing our oil”. He criticized the current method for the management of the country's imports, as “wealth is being managed according of the former regime and laws imposed on us by force from the federal government”. He demanded “the central government owes Kurdistan 55 million barrels of fuel which we didn’t receive for domestic consumption from 2004 to 2012." Hawrami stressed the need for the enactment of the oil and gas law, and expressed his belief that “this law, which Kurdistan seeks to pass in accordance with the Constitution, will be a key for all the contentious issues between the two sides in the oil sector”. Prime Minister , Nuri al-Maliki said during a joint press conference with regional president , Massoud Barzani, the lack of differences between the federal government and the regional government, but the difference in views regarding the Constitution. “Most of the differences arising from non-political application of the Constitution in relation to the distribution of proceeds,” he added. Article 112 of the Iraqi Constitution stipulates that the federal government manages oil and gas extracted from current fields with the governments of the producing regions and provinces, to distribute its imports fairly in a way that commensurate with the population distribution with a quota for a certain period for the affected provinces. The article stressed that the actual productive federal government and the regional governments together develop the necessary strategic policies to oil and gas wealth, so as to achieve the highest benefit to the Iraqi people. Hawrami undermined the importance of the pressure exerted by Baghdad on oil companies operating in the region to discourage them from the implementation of contracts. He pointed out that “this does not affect the work of these companies and they are ready to continue despite the late payment of dues”. He estimated crude oil reserves in South Kurdistan except the disputed areas at 45 billion barrels that can be increased, but initial gas estimates indicates to 100 or 200 trillion cubic meters. On the plans for his ministry to raise the production during the coming period, he said, “The aimed production in 2015 is million barrels per day until it reaches in 2019 to two million barrels per day, either filter crude and produce hydrocarbons as it is expected to rise to 150 thousand barrels per day and can be up to 250 thousand." Kurdistan's natural gas resources may become a game-changer over the longer term By Olgu Okumus If a firm manages to create a dominant position in the South Kurdistan of i-rack (KRG) oil business this could, in the long term, open a door to the gas business, as it did in the Caspian zones in the 1990s, when the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline prepared the ground for the South Caspian gas pipeline and TANAP, the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline. A similar future may be possible for the KRG and the firms working within it. The KRG’s proven gas reserves are estimated at 2.8-5.7 trillion cubic meters. That is about four times more than Azerbaijan's reserves. In the perspective of the southern energy corridor projects, KRG’s natural gas sources may become a game-changer over the longer term. April 2013 http://www.europeanenergyreview.eu/site/pagina.php?id=4082 5.7 TRILLION That makes South-Kurdistan the 7th in the world. Imagine where Kurdistan would be with other parts included & after they have discovered other areas. And it's not only oil and gas, but also iron, gold, silver, etc. Our country is blessed, we have to take it over from the friggin PERSIAN, TURKISH AND ARABS PIGS AND THIEVES BEFORE THEY STEAL AND DESTROY EVERYTHING... well, SK & WK are at least safe, but the friggin Persians are stealing a lot... especially gold... They have to be gold. PLease US & Israel, please attack and annihilate the Persians... |

Big chance that GREAT Kurdistan is ranked in the top 3 in a list of countries by natural gas proven reserves! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_natural_gas_proven_reserves GREAT Kurdistan oil reserves = top 7 (easily). GREAT Kurdistan natural gas reserves = top 5 (easily), maybe in the top 3! + fresh WATER + gold, platinum, chrome, copper and even URANIUM !!! Like Kurdish Zagros-Aryan race also our Kurdistan is blessed! And yes, occupiers of our ancestral homeland, Kurdistan, are stealing our wealth...

These huge energy resources can,if used properly, make us not only a major player in regional politics, but even in world politics. Kurdistan is indeed blessed: And this is only what is known now. SK was not known for being such a huge oil hotspot (except some places like Kerkûk) before we got control over it. I honestly believe there are huge reserves, maybe not in oil but other resources,in the other parts of Kurdistan too. |

I still don't understand why Kurds in other part of Kurdistan (outside S. Kurdistan) are still dreaming and do nothing. With all this wealth in Kurdistan every Kurds can be a millionaire! Every Kurd can be very rich and this should be a great motivation to fight against Turanic monkeys, Arabian Afro-Asiatic desert rats and disgusting feminine Persians for our FREEDOM and liberation! |

Breaking News…Kurds demand Maliki officially to dismiss Shahristani Wednesday, 17 July 2013 14:23 Shafaq News / Kurdistan alliance demanded on Wednesday, Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki to dismiss the Vice President for Energy Affairs, Hussain al-Shahristani for "failing" to solve the electricity problem and oil file management. “What has Shahristani stated that the region is smuggling oil with the help of operating companies there comes to cover up his failure in electricity case,” The leader in Kurdistan Alliance, Farhad Al-Attoshi said in a press conference attended by “Shafaq News”. The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Hussain al-Shahristani considered earlier that exporting oil from South Kurdistan is "smuggling". Shahristani accused foreign companies such as Exxon Mobil and Total as "breaching" to the Iraqi laws by Kurdistan government’s contracts without getting the approval from Baghdad government. Al-Attoshi commented on Shahristani’s remarks,” Mr. Shahristani made us used to the fabricating of crises whenever he fail in equipping electricity to the citizens”. Several cities in the south of Iraq are witnessing night protests on the deterioration of processing power in summer. Attoshi who belongs to Kurdistan Democratic Party wondered, "If these oil companies are smuggling oil , why does al-Shahristani deals with them in southern and central Iraq?”. "This means that Shahristani deals with smuggling companies and he must be held accounted”. The oil extracted from fields in South Kurdistan used to be transferred to world markets via Kirkuk - Ceyhan pipeline, which is controlled by Baghdad to Turkey, but the Kurdish exports via that route stopped last year because of a dispute over oil payments. This dilemma between Baghdad and Erbil, is considered a major obstacle in the plans developed by the two sides to develop discovered oil fields and other exploration during the next few years. Baghdad says that it has the only right in the management of the country's oil wealth through the conclusion of contracts and export crude, but Kurdistan rejects that and confirms that the Iraqi constitution allows it to sign oil contracts. Kurdistan was able to attract giant companies to work in its fields, including Exxon Mobil, Chevron Americas, France's Total and Russia's Gazprom despite warnings from Baghdad. |

Kirkuk’s oil export to Turkey stops The export of Kirkuk’s oil to the Turkish port of Cihan has stopped again due to leakage as repairs are underway. A source from North Oil Company told Al-Sumaria News that the Kirkuk oil exports to the Turkish Cihan port halted again this afternoon, Monday, July 22, due to leakage in the pipelines in Ain al-Zala in the Nainawa province. According to the source, the exportation of Kirkuk oil up until the time of the stop was estimated at 350,000-400,000 barrels a day. The engineering teams of the company have started maintenance and repairs for the pipelines to resume oil exportation in the next couple of hours. The pipeline, which start from Kirkuk and transfer oil to Turkish Cihan port with 40 inches caliber pipelines, were built back in 1973.
