They are not extracting "your oil", they are producing chemical products derived from petroleum which probably comes from Khuzestan and other southern regions of Iran. "To make up for underdevelopment of those regions and to stimulate production in less developed areas of the country, the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran decided in November 2002 to take ethylene gas from Assaluyeh in Bushehr province to southern and western provinces including Fars, Khuzestan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Lorestan, Kermanshah, Hamedan, and Kordestan provinces." World’s Longest Ethylene Pipeline to Feed 11 Petrochemical Complexes Kermanshah Petrochemical Company Construction of a high density polyethylene plant in Kermanshah has been started since 2005 over an area of 55 hectares and it is expected to become operational in 2009. The plant will produce 300,000 tons heavy polyethylene, which will be used as feedstock for downstream petrochemical units producing plastics, pipes, plastic parts and cables. The feedstock for the plant is 305,000 tons ethylene, which will be supplied by West Ethylene Pipeline and 7,000 tons butane-1 to be supplied by Mahabad Petrochemical Company. Kordestan Petrochemical Company Construction of light polyethylene plant of Kordestan has been started since 2006 over an area of 130 hectares near Sanandaj city and it is expected to come on-stream in 2010. Its products will be used to produce polyethylene films, polyethylene foam, wire and cable coating as well as plastic parts. The plant will need 310,000 tons ethylene as feedstock to be supplied by West Ethylene Pipeline and 5,000 tons propylene to be supplied by Tabriz Petrochemical Complex or Ilam Petrochemical Complex. Mahabad Petrochemical Company Construction of high density and low density linear polyethylene plant of Mahabad has started in 2006 over an area of 202 hectares near Mahabad city in West Azarbaijan province. The plant will produce 300,000 tons heavy and light linear polyethylene as well as 7,000 tons butane-1 per year. Products of the plant will be used as feedstock for downstream petrochemical units producing plastics, pipes, plastic parts and cables. The feedstock for the plant is 324,000 tons ethylene, which will be supplied by West Ethylene Pipeline. http://www.shana.ir/en/newsagency/114635 http://www.bpc.co.ir/mahabad.htm But unemployment is still extremely high in all of EK. In Mariwan and Paveh it's like +40%. |

Thanks for clarifying, but I have a feeling they still plan on extracting the oil in Ilam and Kirmanshan. |
